IT'S the feel-good story of the day! Netflix has plans to adapt a true story that has gone viral on social networks. A touching encounter between two strangers on Thanksgiving that started with a message sent to the wrong recipient... It's an unlikely story that warms the heart, and it has inspired a Netflix movie.

Jamal Hinton and Wanda Dench are set to become the heroes of an upcoming Netflix movie. Like much of the online world, the streaming giant has been caught up with the tale of a true-life viral story and has snatched up the rights. Called "The Thanksgiving Text," the film will detail the unlikely meeting between two strangers on Thanksgiving after an exchange of text messages.

Just last week we were celebrating our 6th Thanksgiving with Jamal (@Jamalhinton12 ) and Grandma Wanda! And now we get to watch the story come to life as a family on Netflix!

They were strangers but decided to celebrate Thanksgiving together anyways.

It all started in 2016. Wanda Dench, a 64-year-old white grandmother, sent a text to her grandson inviting him to the traditional Thanksgiving meal in late November. But her text message didn't reach the right recipient. It was instead Jamal Hinton, a 17-year-old African-American high school student who received the invitation.

"Thanksgiving dinner will be at my house on November 24 at 3:00 pm. Let me know if you're coming. Hope to see you all. Of course that includes Amanda & Justin," the grandmother had sent.

After exchanging a few messages and their respective photos, the two strangers still made a date to meet for the American holiday despite realizing the error. Since then, the tradition has taken hold.

Despite the death of Wanda's husband, who passed away from covid-19 in 2020, the two strangers, who became friends from day one, met again in 2021 for Thanksgiving dinner. This relationship between this grandmother and new grandson has become a message of love on social media.

"We are excited to share our story with the world. We hope it inspires more people to reach out and make connections that they wouldn't ordinarily make. We are so blessed to find a genuine friendship brought together by God from a mistaken text message." Jamal Hinton and Wanda Dench said in a joint statement.

Netflix has not yet announced the name of the director or the actors who will play this social networking duo.
