More than 80 are feared dead and hundreds more injured as a huge earthquake hit Pakistan’s Baluchistan province's Awaran district on Tuesday.

The numbers are expected to increase as more victims are still trapped under the rubble of collapsed buildings.
To help with rescue efforts, more than 1,000 local soldiers have been deployed.

A local television station showed a footage of the residents at Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan, leaving their houses and rushing into the streets in panic.

The tremor could be felt as far as Karachi and lasted for around two minutes.

The 7.7-magnitude quake managed to form a new island at Pakistan's Gwadar coastline in the Arabian Sea.

The island is around 10 metres high and 100 metres long.
