HOW is a Big Mac prepared? And those chicken nuggets, why are they always so perfectly browned? How does McDonald's get the bacon so crisp? Admit it, there are lots of things you've been wondering about the fast food giant and how it prepares your menu favorites. Now, a TikTok account (finally) reveals what goes on behind the scenes when it comes to making McDonald's specialties.

It all started with a video about omelets and fried eggs -- a video that has been viewed nearly 31 million times. This runaway success, posted on TikTok, reveals what goes on behind the scenes in the kitchen of a restaurant that makes many consumers curious: McDonald's. The video was made by a former employee in the United States. Going by the name "Essential McDonald's," the TikToker told the USA's Today show that they embarked on the initiative to prove that McDonald's used fresh eggs for its breakfasts. The account was launched on January 15. In less than a month, it has gained 1.2 million followers and obtained more than 34 million "likes". Proof that customers are interested in how the fast food behemoth prepares its sandwiches, fries and other menu items.

The TikToker notably demonstrates that the chain's quarter pounder beef patties are indeed cooked fresh and not frozen, unlike beef products for other burgers. The video thus confirms a decision that McDonald's made back in 2018 for its restaurants in the US.

The account also reveals that the bacon comes in whole slabs, completely frozen. But the real surprise is probably the onions, which come dehydrated and are mixed with water to regain their shape before being added to Big Macs and other sandwiches. We also see how employees check the color of the frying oil in order to know when to change it. You learn something every day!
