ACTRESS Shamiha Ahamd Baderi, or better known as Mia Ahmad, 29, tied the knot with Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) goalkeeper Mohd Izham Tarmizi Roslan, 26, today.

The marriage was solemnised by the vice kadi of Nurul Islam Mosque in Aulong, Ustaz Abdul Rashid Azidin at Taiping Sentosa Villa, here.

Mohd Izham Tarmizi, dressed in a smart cream-coloured baju Melayu, was legally pronounced husband to Mia in front of about 200 guests.

Mia Ahmad, popular for her role in the drama series 'Hati Perempuan' on the Akasia TV3 slot, received a dowry of RM2,000, and gave nine trays of gifts in exchange for seven received from the groom.

The actress told reporters that she was fairly nervous before the marriage ceremony took place, however she was relieved after it ended.

She added that Mohd Izham Tarmizi had consented to her continuing her acting career, however, she would slow down a little to manage a new family life.

"I was attracted to Izham because he is honest and did not talk big when I met him," she said.

Besides Hati Perempuan, Mia also starred in the drama series Romi Cinta Julia, Rindu Awak 200%, Atie Satan and Ku Tak Rela.

Meanwhile, Mohd Izham Tarmizi said he began to know Mia when they met in Johor Bahru last year.

"I used to watch Mia on television and liked her. When I met her in person, I was quite comfortable and happy with her. I will also not prevent her from continuing her acting career.

"We do not plan to have children in the near future, but do not rule it out if it's the will of God," he said.

According to Mohd Izham Tarmizi, a reception in Johor has not been finalised, and will be disclosed later.

The sixth of seven siblings said he was now busy training with the JDT squad ahead of the new Super League campaign.

"JDT's target is to win the Super League, the Charity Cup and Malaysia Cup. I will give my best for JDT," he said.

Mia and Mohd Izham Tarmizi's reception will be held at the Taiping Golf & Country Resort on Saturday (Jan 14). -- BERNAMA
