Jon Stewart announced during Monday night's show that the final episode of his Comedy Central series "The Daily Show″ will air on August 6.

Stewart broke the news on February 10 that he was to retire from the network after more than 16 years.

South African comic Trevor Noah is slated to replace Stewart, but his premiere date has not been released yet.

After covering four US presidential elections, Stewart recently told The Guardian that the prospect of the 2016 campaigns did not interest him and that he was not getting the same satisfaction from the show.

While the countdown begins for the last episode of host Stewart behind his famed desk, the comedian says he has a range of projects on the backburner.
