Well-known Indonesian maestro Idris Sardi, 76, died in Jakarta at 7:25 am (local time) today.

Born on June 7, 1938, Idris produced over 1900 music compositions which remain relevant until today.

He was a famous violinist and has won numerous awards at the Indonesian Film Festival including Best Composer for “Pengantin Remaja, Perkahwinan dan Cinta Pertama.”

Among his children that have embarked in the arts industry is popular actor Lukman Sardi.

In April 2008, Idris held a solo concert with the National Symphony Orchestra at Istana Budaya, Kuala Lumpur.
