Will Ferrell has been confirmed to produce and star in an as-yet-unnamed action comedy reports The Hollywood Reporter.

The story has been penned by Brendan O'Brien, who previously co-wrote the Seth Rogen and Zac Efron comedy "Neighbors", and will see Ferrell form an unlikely partnership with an escaped convict who has set out to stop his girlfriend from getting married.

Ferrell and O'Brien have already worked together on the "The House", which stars Ferrell alongside Amy Poehler and is due to be released in June 2017.

Ferrell's most recent comedy projects include roles in "Daddy's Home" and "Zoolander 2", as well as working as producer on Melissa McCarthy's "The Boss," which opened last weekend at No. 1 at the box office.
