A man and his sister were charged in the magistrate's court here today, with committing matricide at a flat unit in
Bandar Tasik Permaisuri in Cheras last month.

Muhamad Abdul Rahman, 25, and Ainul Mardhiah, 22, were alleged to have murdered their mother, Wan Yah Wan Mat, 63, at Block D-16-06, Flat Sri Penara in Jalan Sri Permaisuri between 11pm on Nov 9 and 4pm on Nov 10.

On Nov 10, Wan Yah was found dead with multiple injuries in the living room of the unit.

The public university students were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same code, which carries the death sentence upon conviction.

Magistrate Siti Radzeah Kamarudin fixed Feb 29 for re-mention, pending post-mortem and chemist reports.

Deputy public prosecutor Nor Diana Nor Azwa appeared for the prosecution while the accused were unrepresented.
