UMNO Cheras secretary Datuk Syed Mehdhar Syed Abdullah wants Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to advice Tabung Haji chairman, Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim to relinquish his position in the organisation.

He said this is because Abdul Azeez had lied about the land purchase from 1MDB amounting to RM188.5 million.

“If the PM is serious about his people first slogan, then he must remove leaders who do not speak the truth,” he said in a blog posting, today.

He said, even though the land was purchased by a subsidiary company of TH, any such decision would have clearly been communicated to its chairman and board of directors.

"When we so easily deny the reports, the people lose trust and this affects the party. How will the people then support such a party,” he questioned in http://umnobahagiancheras.blogspot.com.

Syed Medhar said it was unfortunate for a chairman to deny the purchase so easily which had involved a huge amount of money.

“It is clear that Abdul Azeez had lied and a person who lied should not be given the trust to head an institution especially one that safeguards Muslims’ money," he said.

He said, Abdul Azeez action had insulted the people’s intelligence.

“Najib always spoke about integrity, transparency and putting the people first. Now, I demand the Prime Minister walk his talk by advising Abdul Azeez to resign as TH chairman,” he said.

He said prior to Abdul Azeez’s appointment as the TH chairman, he had argued that Abdul Azeez does not have the credibility to lead the institution.

He said, he had then suggested to Najib to appoint a former senior minister or senior government official to lead the institution.

He said the latest incident proved that he was right about Abdul Azeez and warned that Najib might also lose the support from UMNO members if he continues to maintain Abdul Azeez as chairman.
