Former army officer Mohd Ali Baharom, better known as Ali Tinju, has been remanded for two days from today to facilitate a police investigation into a seditious remark he is alleged to have made over the WhatsApp application at the Kota Raya Complex here last Friday.

Kuala Lumpur CID chief Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad said Mohd Ali, 44, was being held under Section 117 of the Penal Code pertaining to abetting the commission of an offence by the public, or by more than 10 persons.

Last Friday, a group of men believed to be customers and traders of mobile telephones were involved in a brawl on the ground floor of the Kota Raya Complex.

A video clip, of two minutes and 30 seconds duration, on the brawl was uploaded onto YouTube.

It showed several men quarrelling with a salesman at a mobile telephone outlet, and someone was seen hurling a chair into the premises.
