PETALING JAYA: PKR Vice President, Mohd Azmin Ali stressed that any form of merger within the party will cause the party to fall apart.

Azmin said that the members of PKR need to concentrate on one power that is justice.

“To me, all party members are on the same team under the leadership of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim,” he said during his speech at the launch of Gagasan keadilan Rakyat at Petaling Jaya Civic Center Auditorium, on Wednesday night.

In his speech, Azmin also stressed the need for loyalty to the party as a vessel for struggle and PKR as a party with an ideology.

He said without an ideology, a political party will inevitably float in the currents of time and drown in Machiavelli's political culture.

“A political party must have an ideology. Without an ideology, a party will just float on the currents of time and will drown in the political culture of Machiavelli, doing anything to win. What I mean by an ideology is a comprehensive concept,” he said.

Azmin reiterated that PKR is not a party for one race but belongs to everyone who wants a change to the country.

“As the Vice President, I have been to Ba’ Kelalan, Sarawak, to Mantap in Tenom, across to Banjaran Kroker, Sabah. I have met the Iban of Nanga Budu long house, Saratok; the Kadazan of Kampung pilantong, Lanok, Beluran.

“I have been to the estates and the villages to immerse myself in the conscience of the Malays, Indians and Chinese. Say want to stress again that KEADILAN (PKR) is not a Malay party, KEADILAN is a party for all the people of Malaysia,” he said.

Azmin will be contesting against Selangor MB Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, PKR Secretary-General Datuk Saifuddin Nasution ismail and the head of Hulu Selangor division, Datuk K Ramachandran for the deputy presidency.
