Traffic on the main road at the junction of Sungai Dulang will be diverted in conjunction with the Declaration of Bagan Datoh as a new District, to facilitate a route to the declaration site at Sekolah Menengah Sains Bagan Datoh (SABDA).

Hilir Perak District Police chief ACP Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad said road users going towards the town of Bagan Datoh will be diverted to Jalan Sungai Nipah, from 9am.

"For those who want to go to the site of the declaration, parking is available in Kampung Pasang Api and there will be about 20 vans going back and forth bringing visitors to SABDA," he told a press conference at the Hutan Melintang Police Station here, Sunday.

Wan Hassan, said as many as 580 police officers and members of the Civil Defence Forces (APM) and Malaysian Volunteers Department (RELA) will be deployed to maintain security and traffic control in the area.

"There are 19 police locations stationed along the main road to maintain security and we will also mobilise members of the Federal Reserve Unit and General Operations Force to assist in maintaining public safety," he said.

With the declaration Bagan Datoh will be henceforth be known as Bagan Datuk. - Bernama
