The search and rescue (SAR) operation for survivors of the ill fated express boat that sank has resumed early this morning.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said that 11 are still missing while 179 have been rescued.

"We have identified the names and details of the survivors. We have also identified the names of those still missing through interviews conducted with their relatives and friends who survived the incident," he said when contacted by Astro AWANI.

The SAR will continue until they've found everyone.

During the incident, at least 184 passengers boarded the Kawan Mas express boat despite the maximum capacity of 75 passengers only.

Yesterday, the overloaded vessel crashed into a rock and sank at the Jeram Tukok/Jeram Bungan, about four hours journey upriver from Sibu.
