Electoral reform body Bersih 2 said it has received donations of RM2,064,652.74 for the Bersih 4 rally from about 27,000 donors from August to September 15.

The Bersih 4 rally was held on Aug 29 and 30.

Steering committee member Masjaliza Hamzah said apart from public donations, Bersih 2 also received donations through the sales of T-shirts (RM553, 914) and mafla (RM28, 795).

"This brings to the total of RM2,647,361.74," she said at a press conference today.

She said a total of RM664,052.52 was spent for the rally.

The two-day Bersih 4 rally which the police declared as illegal says it is fighting for clean and fair elections, and a clean government, among other things.

On September 1, Urban Well-being, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Rahman Dahlan said Bersih chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah will be billed RM65,000 for Bersih 4 rally clean-ups.

He said the bill does not include damages caused by the rally goers and would leave that to the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).
