Two brothers were killed while on their way to buy food to break fast when their motorcycle was rammed by a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle in Jalan Kampung Raja-Tembila about 7pm yesterday.

Muhammad Hafizuddin Che Mat, 21, a student at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) and his brother Muhammad Husaini, 17, a Form Five student at SMK Tembila, Besut, were riding a Modenas Kris motorcycle during the incident.

Besut district police chief Supt Mohd Zamri Mohd Rowi said the 4WD vehicle was driven by Mohd Azra Abdul Rahman, 36, who was on his way from Kampung Raja to Tembila.

"Mohd Azra's 4WD suddenly experienced problem causing him to lose control before the vehicle skidded into the opposite lane and collided head-on into a motorcycle ridden by the brothers.

As a result of the impact, Muhammad Hafizuddin died on the spot while Muhammad Husaini was rushed to Besut Hospital before transferred to the Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (HUSM) in Kubang Kerian, Kelantan, for further treatment.

However, Muhammad Husaini succumbed to his injuries at 3.20am while being treated at the hospital.
