KUALA LUMPUR: The government is expected to announce details of the compensation protection scheme for recipients of the COVID-19 vaccine, who suffers serious side effects as a result of the vaccine injection on Monday.

Coordinating Minister of the National COVID-19 Immunisation Program (PICK), Khairy Jamaluddin, said the matter would be announced in a media conference with the Minister of Health, Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.

"We will announce at a weekly press conference on Monday next week. It will be announced by the Health Minister in a joint press conference with me," he said today.

Khairy said this in a press conference after making a survey at the Vaccine Storage Centre (PSV) at the University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC), today.

Earlier, Khairy, who is also the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, informed that the Cabinet  had been decided the matter in a special meeting and was in the process of being finalised.

The scheme is expected to provide ex-gratia compensation to cases of serious side effects that could be attributed to the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine.
