KUALA LUMPUR:Malaysia recorded the highest number of fatalities today with an increase of 10 death cases, bringing the total number of COVID-19 deaths in Malaysia to 214.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah informed that there were 710 new cases of COVID-19, raising the cumulative number of cases to 24,514.

"Of that number, there is one import case in Kuala Lumpur that received infection from abroad involving non-citizens who entered Malaysia from Nepal.

"Based on that figure, the number of active cases with COVID-19 infectivity is currently 8,416 cases," he said in a statement on Friday.

Regarding the spread of COVID-19 in every state, Sabah is still in the highest position of contagion cases with an increase of 528 cases followed by Selangor of 62 cases.

To date, there are as many as 90 positive cases of COVID-19 receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and out of that number, a total of 28 cases required respiratory assistance.

Meanwhile, the MOH also informed that a total of 467 cases were reported to have fully recovered, making the total number of COVID-19 cases recovered at 15,884 cases.
