The Customs Department is introducing a computer system to facilitate implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Its director-general, Datuk Seri Khazali Ahmad, said the computerisation system, to be known as MyGST, was now being tested, before it would be distributed to the about 300,000 registered traders nationwide.

The system is built locally at a cost of about RM100 million, he told reporters at a function at Taman Perumahan Kastam Pengkalan Kubor here today.

Khazali said licensed traders could buy the system at a subsidised price and that training would be given to them on the use of the system.

In another development, he said the department's revenue collection for 2013 was RM33.1 billion, an increase of 2.38% from the previous year.
