Housing developers who purposely let their projects to be abandoned have been blacklisted by the National Housing Department, Dewan Rakyat was told yesterday.

Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Chor Chee Heung said the action did not only affect the company but also the board of directors.

"As long as their names are on the list, they will not be given licence to carry on business as property developers and will be fined.

"Amendment to the Housing Development Act passed by parliament last year means those who purposely let projects to be abandoned will be brought to court," he said when winding up debate on the Supply Bill 2013.

he also said the ministry would hold more campaigns on the importance of implementing solid waste segregation from time to time to increase public awareness.
