Kuala Lumpur police have completed a probe on the claim by the missing fourth policeman suspect in the N Dhamendran death-in-custody case that he was innocent.
However, the police did not reveal the results of the investigations but added that the case has been handed over to Bukit Aman.
Kuala Lumpur police CID chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah told Astro AWANI that the investigation files have been passed over to the investigating officer in Bukit Aman in charge of the Dhamendran murder case.
“We have gone through a general inquiry to establish the truth of the allegations in the report. The report is now with Bukit Aman,” said Ku.
Inspector S. Hare Krishnan had lodged a police report claiming innocense and that he was dragged into the case to “protect certain parties”.
According to a report in Malaysiakini, Hare Krishnan had lodged a police report on June 1, nine days after Dhamendran’s death on May 21.
The online portal, citing the document, reported that Hare Krishnan said that he was not even in the Dang Wangi police station lock-up on the day Dhamendran died.
The Inspector claimed that he did not “touch or beat” Dharmendran that day but claimed to know who “beat him, who was there and who knew about it”.
Hare Krishnan also claimed to have received instruction from a superior officer on May 21 to “release and re-arrest” Darmendran.
Hare Krishnan said he ordered his subordinates to do this but subsequently discovered the re-arrest was done using his identification but without his consent.
“Officers made the arrest report using my PRS ID without my approval,” he claimed in the report. He was later notified of Dhamendran’s death at 4.30pm the same day.
Similarly, Hare Krishnan claimed in his report, an instruction was made to include his name in the lock-up diary, which was also done without his consent.
“All the entries of me in the lock-up diary are untrue and was done to implicate me and protect certain parties,” he said.
Two months ago, Dhamendran , 31, was found dead in the lock-up 10 days after he was arrested over an alleged gunfight.
Initially, police claimed that he had died due to breathing difficulties. However, the post-mortem later revealed he had suffered 52 injuries, including a stapler wounds on his earlobes.
Since then, three officers - Jaffri Jaafar, 44, Mohd Nahar Abd Rahman, 45, and Mohd Haswadi Zamri Shaari, 32, – were charged with the murder of Dhamendran on June 5.
However, police claimed that they could not charge Hare Krishnan as he went missing from duty on June 15 and released a photograph of him last Tuesday.
