A doctor has been detained on suspicion of molesting a 12-year-old boy at a private clinic in Taman Bukit Indah here two days ago.

Nusajaya district police chief Supt Noor Hashim Mohamad said the 40-year-old male doctor, who is still single, was detained at about 1pm at the clinic which had been operating for five years.

Preliminary investigation by the police found that the doctor had lured the boy into his clinic by giving him a Samsung Galaxy Ace handphone, he told reporters at his office here today.

Noor Hashim said the doctor was detained following a report lodged by the boy's father yesterday.

The father became suspicious and questioned his son after seeing the boy having a handphone, he added.

He said the boy had been sent to Sultanah Aminah Hospital for examination.

In another case, Noor Hashim said police had crippled the "Nara" gang, believed to be responsible for several robbery cases in the city, with the arrest of the six remaining members of the gang since last month.

He said the first arrest was made on Sept 28 at Jalan Sui Koon, followed by the five others at Kangkar Pulai, Taman Universiti and Skudai Villa last Thursday and Friday.

Following their arrest, police seized several weapons and stolen items which included a Nissan Sentra car, a Honda Wave motorcycle, RM1,584, eight handphones, watches, sling bags and a crash helmet.

He said the suspects, aged between 20 and 42, also tested positive for drug.
