BATU PAHAT: An elderly woman who was reported missing five days ago in an oil palm smallholding in Kampung Parit Kasih Sayang, Senggarang, near here was found safe today at 11.25 am.

Batu Pahat district police chief ACP Ismail Dollah said Painah Siwan, 79, was found by two civilians who were also part of the search operation comprising 102 officers and staff from various government departments and agencies as well as 20 villagers.

He said the woman was found in a weakened state near a puddle about 900 metres from the rescue operation control post and 1.4 km from her house.

"She was then sent to Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital (HSNI) in Batu Pahat, for recuperation. She is now in a stable condition," said Ismail when contacted here today.

Earlier, the victim reportedly went to the smallholding and was noticed missing by her family when she did not return home by 3.30 pm last Wednesday.

News of her disappearance also went viral on social media.
