Two more guard posts have been added at the City One Tower, Jalan Munshi Abdullah here, bringing the total seven posts to carry out the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) that enters its second day at the building today.

Checks by Astro AWANI at the site found that the guard posts were added as it was alleged there were attempts to sneak in or out of the tower.

However, the security forces deployed there are said to be on high alert to ensure full compliance of the EMCO.

Additionally, steel wires were installed at the tower this morning to ensure there would be no movement in and out of the condominium units.

Astro AWANI was made to understand the guard posts were manned by 56 personnel from the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and 84 from the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) in four shifts daily.

Two personnel from the PDRM and three from MAF would be manning each post in every shift.

Checks also found that daily aid such as food supply was distributed by the Social Welfare Department (JKM) to the tower dwellers.

The government had announced the enforcement of the EMCO at the City One Tower beginning at midnight on Sunday until April 13 after 17 positive cases of COVID-19 infection were reported there.

The decision was made following the advice of the Minister of Health to break the chain of infection at the 42-storey tower that houses 3,200 tenants in 502 condominium units and business premises.
