The image of two paintings by Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 victim, Muhammad Afif Tambi, have been printed on T-shirts for sale to raise funds for the construction of Surau Al-Ghazali in Petra Jaya, Kuching, Sarawak.

His cousin, Nur Sabrina Irwan Zulkarnain, 20, said she found the two paintings while cleaning Muhammad Afif's house after the tragedy.

"The construction of the RM 3.5 million surau is being implemented by next-of-kins of Muhammad Afif and the family of his mother, Ariza Ghazalee, who was also killed in the MH17 tragedy.

"He had a great talent in painting. The two paintings chosen to be printed on the T-shirts are in memory of Muhammad Afif, his family, the crew and passengers who died in the tragedy.

Muhammad Afif,19, was one of the 298 passengers and crew of MH17 which was shot down in Ukraine on July 17, 2014. MH17 was travelling from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur.

"The two paintings were chosen because they seem to have a connection with MH17," she told reporters after attending the memorial service to mark the third anniversary of the MH17 tragedy, here today.

Also killed in the tragedy were Muhammad Afif's father, Tambi Jiee,49, his mother, Ariza,46, and his siblings Muhammad Afzal, 17, Marsha Azmeena, 15 and Muhammad Afruz, 13.

One painting shows a boy making a dive with a blue sky in the background while another painting has a long-haired man looking at the wing of an aircraft.

Each T-shirt is sold at RM65 (short sleeve) and RM75 (long sleeve) . They are available online via the Facebook of Surau Al-Ghazali.

Meanwhile, Md Salim Samo, 68, who came from Muar, Johor, to attend the ceremony said his family wanted to know who really who shot down flight MH17 in Ukraine in 2014.

"I want those involved (in shooting down the plane) to be punished and to be brought to justice. I hope to get the answers soon," he added.

The retired soldier lost his son, Mohd Ali,29, a final year student of the Doctorate of Neuropsychopathology Development at Erasmus University, Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

Malaysia and the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) comprising the Netherlands. Belgium, Ukraine and Australia had agree that the national prosecution of those responsible for shooting down MH17 be done in the Netherlands.
