The Johor government has agreed to set up a 'Cleanliness Action Team', a special teams to ensure each plan and agenda related to cleanliness action is implemented smoothly in future.

Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, when launching the 'Johor Bersih and Lestari' (Sustainable and Cleaner Johor) programme at Taman Pelangi Indah, Sunday, said the team will be chaired by him and assisted by two State Executive Councillors (Excos).

The two Excos are state Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Abd Latif Bandi and Health and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Ayub Rahmat.

"The team will meet every two months to ensure the cleanliness level, enforcement momentum and its cleanliness campaigns' effectiveness are carried out as planned.

"Planning is important because the state government wants every action plan executed based on Key Performance Indicators for every party involved to ensure its success," he said.

In a press conference held later, Mohamed Khaled said the setting up of the team among others is aim to coordinate the duties carried out by various parties related to cleanliness.

He added that similar teams would be set up at the district level.
