The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah, and the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tuanku Hajah Haminah, will begin a four-day state visit to Vietnam tomorrow.

This is the first visit of Tuanku Abdul Halim to Vietnam after being installed as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for the second time on April 11 last year.

The king had already visited three Asean countries, namely Indonesia, Brunei and Thailand. His Majesty concludes the visit to Thailand tonight.

Tuanku Abdul Halim and Tuanku Hajah Haminah are scheduled to arrive at the special terminal of the Noi Bai International Airport at 11 am (noon in Malaysia) from Thailand on board a special aircraft.

Accompanying the royal couple will be the Tunku Laksamana of Kedah, Datuk Seri Diraja Tunku Abdul Hamid Thani Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah; the Tunku Panglima Besar of Kedah, Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Syafinaz; and several other members of the royal family.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Raja Permaisuri Agong would be welcomed by the Chairman of the Presidential Office, Dao Viet Trung; Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia Nguyen Hong Thao; Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Phuong Nga and other dignitaries.

Tuanku Abdul Halim is scheduled to attend several events during the visit. His Majesty will also grant an audience to Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang.

His Majesty is also scheduled to attend a dinner with 200 Malaysians living in Vietnam.
