Kota Kinabalu Umno has come out to support the proposal by Penampang Umno that Umno's president be empowered to appoint three additional vice presidents (VPs).

Its head Datuk Faisyal Diego said the proposal, which will require amendments to Umno's constitution, should be given due consideration as it would help transform Umno to become even stronger in facing the 14th general election.

He told this to reporters at an Aidilfitri open house hosted by KK Umno at Wisma SESB near here today.

Yesterday, Penampang Umno head Datuk John Ambrose had made the proposal so that that Umno could have six vice presidents, three elected and three appointed by the president.

He said the move would help further strengthen the party, escpecially in preparing for GE14.

Meanwhile in TUARAN, the head of the Tuaran Umno division, Datuk Hajiji Noor said the division would give strong support to Sabah Umno chairman Datuk Seri Musa Aman, who is also the Sabah Chief Minister, if he wished to contest the post of party vice-president.

He said Umno was a democratic party that gave its members the opportunity to elect leaders who were capable of bringing development to the party.

What's important is that whatever we do is to strengthen our party at all levels," he said when met at his Aidilfitri open house, here today.

Also present at the function were Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin and Musa.

When asked whether he had any intention of contesting any post in the Umno Supreme Council, Hajiji, who is also the State Assemblyman for Sulaman, said he had no such intention yet.
