The planned wedding ceremony of Lance Corporal Mohd Azuan Abdullah, the 25-year-old policeman who was killed after being rammed by a criminal last month, today turned into a tahlil prayer.

His fiancée, Nur Faizah Muhammad Rejab, 22, could not hide her emotions when asked about the preparations for her supposed big day.

All of the wedding preparations including the clothing for the bride and groom, as well as the pelamin (wedding dais), had to been cancelled at the eleventh hour after she found out about the tragic incident.

The rental boutique was kind enough to refund the deposits to her, she said.

Nur Faizah admitted it was hard for her to close her eyes at night as she misses her fiancé, whom she considers a loving and caring man.

However, she was still grateful that her parents and friends are around to motivate to be strong during this trying times.

"Nothing can be done anymore since everything is gone. With the support of my siblings and friends, I have to remain strong. Even if I continue to cry, he will not come back. It's fated, what else can I do?

"Maybe there's a reason behind this, but it's hard to forget him as we've shared so many memories together," she said.

Meanwhile, Mohd Azuan's elder brother, Mohd Aizam Abdullah, who attended the tahlil prayers alongside the deceased's other family members and friends, said the family fulfilled Mohd Azuan's wish in wanting a 10-car convoy from Johor to Kedah, where the wedding ceremony was supposed to take place.

Mohd Aizam said, his brother and Nur Faizah had planned to stay in Kuala Kurau, Perak after being married.

But it was not meant to be, he said, and what's sadder was that the home is already complete with some furniture and fixtures.

"More furniture had been ordered but yet to be delivered. Mohd Azuan also bought some flowers and other items to decorate the house. He was really excited about being a newlywed," Mohd Nizam said.

The reception on Mohd Azuan's side was planned to be held the same time with his younger brother's after Hari Raya Aidilfitri in Johor. But the latter's wedding is still in the planning stage as no preparations have been made yet on the groom's side.

At 1.15pm on May 26, Mohd Azuan, a member of the Kerian district police headquarters' Motorcycle Patrol Unit, died when the motorcycle he was on was rammed by a Toyota Wish car driven by a robber.

Mohd Azuan died at the scene while his colleague was seriously injured.

The incident occurred at the 10th Mile towards Alor Pongsu, near Parit Buntar, when both policemen were after robbery suspects in a car before it rammed into their motorcycles from the back.
