KUALA LUMPUR: The following are the updates on COVID-19 figures in Malaysia and selected countries across the world as at 10 am today.

Data provided by John Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Centre indicate globally there have been 173,536,534 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 3,734,609 deaths.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) as at June 6, a total of 1,900,955,505 vaccine doses have been administered globally till June 4.

The United States, India and Brazil remain the top three nations with highest number of positive cases and fatalities. However, countries like the United States (US), the United Kingdom (UK) and others have been reporting a slowdown in new cases in line with the rising vaccination numbers.

Malaysia has ramped up its vaccination drive and is among the fastest in ASEAN in administering the first vaccine dose. Last Thursday, Malaysia etched a new record when it administered 117,563 doses of vaccine jabs in a single day, the highest number since the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) was implemented 100 days earlier. The number of innoculation is expected to reach 200,000 per day by July.

Malaysia's northern neighbour Thailand has also ramped up their vaccination drive since Monday and hopes to administer 500,000 jabs per day soon.

The table below also indicates the status of some ASEAN nations including Malaysia as of June 6 as the COVID-19 pandemic rages on and the vaccination process moves into high gear.
