A man who rode a motorcycle through flood waters and posted the video of his feat on his Facebook page has become an internet sensation.

Mohd Faizul Lokman, 30, or Jijoe said he did not expect the video to have been viewed by more than five million Facebook users, as of this morning.

The one minute 24 second video, taken on Jan 4, showed him riding a modified motorcycle through 1.5-metre deep flood waters with his sister Khazuraini, 35, in Kampung Gong Chokoh, Padang Luas, Jerteh.

The part-time mechanic said he modified the motorcycle, which belongs to his late father, by placing its carburettor and fuel tank in the basket and handlebars.

"Water will not get inside the carburetor and fuel tank when they are placed high up and the engine will not stopped working," said Mohd Faizul, who is also a part-time carpenter.

Meanwhile, Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh, who is also Besut MP, said he was impressed with Mohd Faizul's creativity which could be further developed for commercial purpose. -- BERNAMA
