A man with severe burns was found dead, believed to have been beaten up elsewhere before he was set on fire at an oil palm plantation at Jalan Kebun Cherang Tuli, Pasir Puteh, late yesterday.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Mazlan Lazim who confirmed the matter in a statement said the incident had took place about 6pm, Monday.

He said following a misunderstanding, the suspect had hit the victim who suddenly fell unconscious.

Thinking that the victim had died, the suspect then brought him to the oil palm plantation and set him on fire to erase any form of evidence.

But, a woman who was in the area, heard the victim’s cries for help. The victim who then had 95 per cent burns, died at the location.

Following the incident, six suspects including a woman were detained for an hour to facilitate investigations.
