MELAKA: Registered voters in 28 state constituencies in the Melaka State Election will cast their votes at a total of 217 polling centres this Saturday to choose their elected representatives from 112 candidates.

The candidates and aides contacted by Bernama today said that the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Tanjung Bidara state seat Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh will cast his vote in the constituency at Kampung Pulau Tanjung Bidara voting district centre while Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali contesting in Lendu will cast his at SK Durian Daun, Masjid Tanah.

Meanwhile, other candidates will cast their ballots outside of the constituencies that they are contesting.

Perikatan Nasional (PN)'s Chief Minister candidate Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin who is contesting in the Tanjung Bidara state seat will cast her vote at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Ramuan China Besar while Datuk Mohd Rafiq Naizamohideen, the Telok Mas state seat candidate will cast his at the Krubong Community Sports Complex.

Datuk Seri Idris Haron of Pakatan Harapan (PH) who is contesting in Asahan will fulfill his obligation at SK Jenis Cina (SKJC) Lih Jen in Pokok Mangga while Bukit Katil candidate Adly Zahari will do so at SK Durian Tunggal, Alor Gajah.

BN candidate who is making his debut in Asahan, Fairul Nizam Roslan will cast his vote at the Datuk Seri Mohd Zin Vocational College in Kampung Pengkalan Alor Gajah.

The Election Commission set the voting date for the Melaka state election on Nov 20 following the dissolution of the state assembly on Oct 4 after four state assemblymen withdrew support for the chief minister.

Early voting was held on Tuesday (Nov 16).

Melaka has 495,195 registered voters comprising 240,530 or 48.57 males and 254,666 or 51.43 per cent females.
