Videos of female students beating each other up which went viral on social media created a stir among netizens.

The first 1 minute 46 second video believed to be recorded with a mobile phone, started with two female students facing each other, seemingly aware that their actions are being recorded.

The second video which was 58 seconds in duration started with two female students beating and pulling each others hair while saying “Aku benci engkau” (I hate you) and “tadi kata hebat sangat nak gaduh” (You said earlier that you wanted to fight).

On Monday, another video showing a female student being bullied by a group of fellow students also emerged and received criticism on the social media platform. The video was known as “Gadis Pailang”.

The bullying phenomenon became the focus of Buletin Awani745 on Thursday. At the same time, many readers voiced out their concern on the issue via Awani’s @501Awani Twitter page.

Deputy Education Minister, P. Kamalanathan when contacted informed that the students involved in the ‘Gadis Pailang’ video has been suspended following the incident which took place on April 25, 2014.

Samarahan Police District Chief of Police, Deputy Superintendent Lee Chong Chern also said that the three suspects in the video would be charged.

“All three suspects would be charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code for causing injuries. For the first suspect, there is an additional charge under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation. The case is set for trial June 23,” said Lee to Astro AWANI.

During Buletin Awani745, actor Sofi Jikan meanwhile apologised to all his juniors at Sekolah Menengah Agama Wilayah Persekutuan for bullying them during his school days.

Sharing his personal experience on Buletin Awani745 on Thursday, the KL Gangster actor admitted that his experience in school helped to bring his character in the movie came to life.

“What I regret most is not knowing the junior students at Sekolah Menengah Agama Wilayah Persekutuan. I would like to apologise now. We however controlled our actions, it never went out of line and none were hospitalized.

“To bullies and their victims, these experiences will not go away but will continue to haunt us,” said Sofi.
