No permit has been issued for logging activities in the Virgin Jungle Reserve (VJR) of Hulu Terengganu in Kuala Lipis near here, Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob said today.

However, he said, checks with the State Forestry Department found that permit was issued for work to bring out timber for road construction.

"Work to bring out the timber is also strictly monitored by the Forestry Department. That's the information I got from the State Forestry Director Department (Datuk Mohd Paiz Kamaruzaman)," he added.

Adnan said this in response to a claim by the Association for the Protection of Natural Heritage Malaysia (PEKA) on its Facebook that there were logging activities in the virgin forest reserve.

He was met after the launch of the Bentong district-level Fly the Jalur Gemilang Campaign here yesterday.
