Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah has reportedly filed for a divorce from her husband.

According to The Star Online, Nurul Izzah, 33, is said to have sought the divorce under the fasakh (annulment) principle in late December through a petition at the Jalan Duta Syariah Court.

Her husband, Raja Ahmad Shahrir Iskandar Raja Salim, 35, has reportedly received the petition on Jan 16 and has sought a two-week postponement on the matter for him to prepare his case.

Meanwhile according to The Malay Mail Online, the PKR vice president has denied that she is seeking to annul her marriage.

Nurul Izzah had also replied that she was not seeking a divorce under the fasakh principle to a question from a follower on Twitter.

Raja Ahmad had wed the daughter of Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on May 9, 2003 and the couple have a son and daughter together.
