MCA has challenged the opposition to state their stand on the threat by Himpunan Hijau chairman, Wong Tack to torch Lynas Corporation's rare earth industrial plant in Gebeng, here, if Barisan Nasional retains power.

MCA Bentong division chairman, Datuk Hoh Khai Mun said in a statement today that DAP and the other opposition allies like PAS and PKR must hold responsibility for this violent call by Wong.

He said, in practising the politics of hatred, many times DAP and its partners had called on their members and the public to take to the streets in their seemingly bid to topple the elected government of the day.

"This time, one of their followers has heeded Pakatan's call too far in wanting to create an inferno without considering the immediate and long- term repercussions on the general public," he added.

Hoh challenged the DAP, PAS and PKR to state their stand on Wong's fervour in applying pressure on the authorities devoid of reasonable mediation and indirectly influencing the public to break the law.

Hoh, who is also state executive councillor for Local Government, Environment and Health, said the threat made by Wong to set a building on fire was tantamount to intimidating the elected government and the people, and would bring social unrest.

Wong in The Malaysian Insider news portal yesterday said they (Himpunan Hijau) would burn down the Lynas plant if the newly elected government fails to shut it down after the 2013 general election.
