The Permaisuri of Johor, Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah expressed her concern for Malaysian students in the United Kingdom and the United States, who could be facing financial problems due to the ringgit depreciation.

"How much do they have spare to buy food after they have paid for their rent and their daily commute? How much can their parents or families send them? " Raja Zarith wrote on her Facebook page.

Raja Zarith who is coincidentally on a vacation in the UK, had also offered to help Malaysians who are living or studying there.

“I am here in the UK on holiday, but I am lucky because I can afford the luxuries here.

“To the Malaysians who are living or studying in the UK please let me know how I can help.

"Is there a student body which can help with students who need financial help?” added Raja Zarith, who is also an Oxford graduate.

The posting received more than 14,000 "likes" and 650 comments.

Netizens also took the opportunity to praise Raja Zarith's generosity and concern towards the Malaysian students.
