Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is allocating RM1.2 million for the 2013 Federal Territory Day celebration at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium, Bandar Tun Razak on Feb 2.

Kuala Lumpur Mayor, Datuk Ahmad Phesal Talib said the bigger allocation this year aimed to invite the people to appreciate the true meaning of Federal Territory Day.

The allocation included the cost for the parade, lucky draw, the handing out of goodies, concert, contests and other programmes that had been drawn up throughout February.

"In terms of overall allocation (including from the government), there is an increase but the contribution from the DBKL is the same as last year," he said at a press conference on the Federal Territory Day celebration 2013, here today.

Ahmad Phesal said the lucky draw for members of the public, particularly the Federal Territory residents, was being introduced for the first time to make the annual celebration more interesting.

The celebration, the ninth edition for the three Federal Territories namely Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan carries the theme 'Solidarity is the Thrust for Prosperity for the Federal Territory'.

Various events had been drawn up for the celebration, including the National Level Pesta Ponggal at the Dataran Merdeka on Feb 2, 'Kenduri 1Wilayah' held simultaneously for the first time at all 11 parliamentary constituencies in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan on Feb 17 and the Royal Concert by famous artistes such as Siti Nurhaliza and Jamal Abdillah at KLCC on March 1.
