The family of the form four student whose body was found hanging in a school hostel toilet in December, wants a probe into his death.

His father, Wan Abdul Rahman Wan Yaakob, 68 said the inquest is necessary as he was certain his late son, Wan Ahmad Faris, did not commit suicide.

“I am convinced my son was murdered, based on several indicators. The inquest is also necessary to clear his name and also ours as his parents,” he said after lodging a police report at the Kota Bharu district police headquarters, Wednesday.

He was accompanied by his wife Rohani Hussin, 59 and family lawyer, Alias Ibrahim.

On Dec 14 last year, the body of Wan Ahmad Faris, a student of Sekolah Maahad Tahfi Sains Nurul Aman, Kok Lanas was found hanging in the school hostel toilet, wearing a shirt and jacket.

His body was found by the hostel warden following strong odour from the toilet.

Post-mortem by forensic expert classified the death as sudden death and ruled out any criminal element.

Police investigating the case also did not find any object or weapon at the scene. There was also no physical injury on Wan Ahmad Faris’s body to indicate any fight or assault.

Wan Abdul Rahman said the first police report was lodged by the family in January but there were no updates until now.

He said he was forced to lodge the second police report as he did not believe his late son had committed suicide as he was well-versed in religious practices and could recite the Quran.

When asked for the basis of his claim that his son did not commit suicide, Wan Abdul Rahman said he will present all evidence at the inquest.
