A Terengganu Barisan Nasional (BN) assemblyman today dismissed as a rumour news that he would resign from UMNO and declare himself an independent like three other assemblymen from the party who
have done so.

Kemasik assemblyman Rosli Othman told Bernama by telephone that he was still with UMNO, contrary to a text message that had been circulating after the three assemblymen announced they had quit the party.

The SMS had said that Rosli was one of three BN assemblymen from UMNO who would quit the party and join the three others in declaring themselves as independent assemblymen.

Former Terengganu Menteri Besar and Kijal assemblyman Datuk Seri Ahmad Said, Ajil assemblyman Ghazali Taib and Bukit Besi assemblyman Roslee Daud announced earlier today that they had left UMNO and become independent assemblymen.

This followed the resignation of Ahmad as the Menteri Besar yesterday and the swearing-in of Seberang Takir assemblyman Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman as the new Menteri Besar last night.

The resignations have left the Terengganu legislative assembly with 14 representatives from the BN, 14 from PAS, one from PKR and three independents.
