SHAH ALAM: UMNO Supreme Council member Tengku Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz has announced his resignation as Selangor UMNO treasurer, effective today.

However, the Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry said he will continue his duties and role as the Kota Raja UMNO division chief and member of the UMNO Supreme Council.

He said that when he was appointed as a UMNO Supreme Council member from Selangor and appointed as Selangor UMNO treasurer over a year ago, he set the main goal to contribute to the resurgence of UMNO in the state.

"My approach and principle are simple, if I cannot contribute to positive change or improvement, then I should not hold a position. It is better for me to vacate the position for someone who can contribute more effectively.

"Therefore, effective today, I am resigning as the treasurer of Selangor UMNO," he said in his latest post on his Facebook account.

Tengku Zafrul also expressed his gratitude for the appointment and trust bestowed upon him and prayed that Allah SWT would bless his genuine struggle, and hopefully UMNO, especially Selangor UMNO, will regain ground in the hearts of the people of the state.

"May UMNO return to the political arena strongly for the sake of Religion, Race, and Country. Dulu, Kini dan Selamanya (Past, Present and Forever)," he said.
