The police have detained an immigration officer and her male companion in connection with the death of a toddler at Apartment Teratai in Putra Perdana here yesterday.

The suspects were picked up today to facilitate investigations into the murder of 19-month-old Hannah Sufiyah Muhammad Adib.

Initial police investigations revealed the toddler - the youngest of three siblings - died after she was believed to have been hurled to the floor.

The victim was initially sent to An-Nisa Clinic in Putra Perdana about noon yesterday after she became unconscious as a result of the incident.

Two hours later, Hannah Sufiyah was pronounced dead.

A post-mortem at the Serdang Hospital this morning revealed the death was due to blunt force trauma.

According to police investigations, the victim was crying to follow her mother to work but the male suspect flew into a rage and slammed the toddler to the floor.

Sepang police chief, Assistant Commissioner Abdul Aziz Ali confirmed the incident.
