Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah will go home to Kedah today, thus ending his five-year reign as the 14th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

The sending off ceremony with Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tuanku Hajah Haminah, is scheduled to take place in full tradition at 8am at Istana Negara, here.

The royal couple will stop at Dataran Parlimen before departing for Bunga Raya Complex, KL International Airport (KLIA), Sepang to return to Kedah.

Tuanku Abdul Halim created history when he became the first ruler to hold office as Yang di-Pertuan Agong twice.

The first time was as the 5th Yang di-Pertuan Agong from Sept 21, 1970 to Sept 20, 1975 and the second time was from Dec 13, 2011 to Dec 12, 2016.

Tuanku Abdul Halim will be replaced by the Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V, who will become the 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong. -- Bernama
