Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has urged all Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders and members to solve internal party problems to ensure a big mandate in the upcoming 13th general elections.

Najib said the big mandate is needed by BN to defend Putrajaya and to wrestle back Selangor from Pakatan Rakyat.

Najib added that a lot of problems could be solved in Selangor if the state is under BN.

“If the Selangor rakyat gives a mandate to BN in Selangor, we could establish a new government and defend BN at the central level with a stronger mandate,” he said at the Chap Goh Meh celebration organised by BN Selangor in Sekolah Kebangsaan Pandan Indah here.

During the last election in 2008, the opposition coalition won the Selangor leadership for the first time when they swept away 35 out of 56 seats in the state, while BN and Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) won 20 seats and one seat, respectively.

Najib’s wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Menteri Pertanian, Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Noh Omar and Pandan MP Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat accompanied him.

“Selangor is too important for the future of the country. We cannot let it be ruled by other parties,” he said.
