The move taken by a certain group in signing the so-called Citizens' Declaration to oust Datuk Seri Najib Razak as prime minister will not affect Sarawak voters' support for Barisan Nasional (BN) in facing the upcoming state election, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said.

The UMNO secretary-general said he was confident that the voters in Sarawak were matured enough to know that only the BN-led government was able to bring development to the state.

"What is he (former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad) trying to do, I don't know. It will not have any effect (on BN in Sarawak state election) anyway," he told reporters after attending the ground-breaking ceremony for Acheh community surau and Maulidur Rasul celebration in Kampung Baru here Sunday.

Last Friday, former deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and former Kedah menteri besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir were among the 58 people who signed the declaration to topple Najib led by Dr Mahathir.

Opposition leaders, including Lim Kit Siang of DAP and Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Mohamed Azmin Ali of PKR, as well as former MCA president Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik also signed the declaration.
