KOTA BHARU:Machang Member of Parliament (MP) from Barisan Nasional (BN) Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakob has announced that he is withdrawing his support for the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government led by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Ahmad Jazlan, who is also the Kelantan UMNO chairman, made the announcement at a news conference at the Kelantan UMNO Headquarters here, on Saturday.

Ahmad Jazlan said this made him the second MP from the government bloc to withdraw support for PN after Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.

He said the official letter on his decision would be submitted to UMNO president and BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi soon.

Last Monday, Ahmad Jazlan had announced his resignation as the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) chairman effective Jan 6 in expressing his dissatisfaction with the PN government.

On Jan 6, the UMNO Supreme Council decided to sever ties with Muhyiddin's party Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) going into the 15th General Election and the motion on this is to be brought to the party's general assembly on Jan 31 for approval.
