PAS lawmaker Datuk Mahfuz Omar said he is ready to face disciplinary action from his party for his participation in the Bersih 5 rally on Saturday.

The Pokok Sena Member of Parliament said, while he was aware of PAS's decision to stay away from Bersih 5, the party's leadership did not issue an official letter banning members from attending the event.

Mahfuz said he had only found out about the ban through Harakah Daily's news report.

"I was not aware. It's up to the party to decide whether attending Bersih was an offence. I can’t stop anyone from referring me to the disciplinary committee. It is up to the party to decide.

"What I did, I did for the rakyat. I attended Bersih for the Malaysian people. For the rakyat, I'm ready for anything, ”Mahfuz said to reporters when met at the parliament lobby.

Earlier, PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said the party would take action against members who joined the Bersih 5 rally but only if there are complaints.

"The party can't take action if there are no complaints.

"I also want to thank PAS members and supporters for abiding with the party's decision to not attend the rally," Abdul Hadi said.
