KUALA LUMPUR: Permatang Pauh member of Parliament Nurul Izzah Anwar said that the decision on whether she will defend her seat in the 15th General Election (GE15) will be made by the party leadership.

“There is no decision yet. I think we do need to abide by the decision of the party, discussions are ongoing, but I always go back to the issue of all being soldiers of the movement and the party.

“I know initially, it was not an easy decision to proceed but let us cross the bridge when we come to it, but I am also very mindful of the instruction that will be issued,” she said when launching the Keadilan official e-commerce store on the Shopee online shopping platform, here.

In the last general election, the former PKR vice-president retained the Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat for PKR by polling 35,534 votes to win by a majority of 15,668 votes.

She beat Datuk Mohd Zaidi Mohd Said of Barisan Nasional (who secured 19,866 votes) and PAS candidate Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden (14,428 votes).

Permatang Pauh has been a PKR seat since 1999.
