National badminton champion Datuk Lee Chong Wei grabbed the All-England 2014 title after beating traditional rival Chen Long from China in the final at the National Indoor Arena, Birmingham, England, early Monday morning (local time).

The world number one started aggressively by defeating Chen Long in the first set 21-13. In the second set, Chen Long put up a strong challenge matching the Malaysian shuttler point for point.

However, Chong Wei managed to keep his cool and used his court craft to beat Chen Long 21-18 in the second set in 59 minutes.

Chong Wei had won the title twice in 2010 and 2011.

Later Lin Dan from China won the championship in 2012 and Chen Long in 2013.

Chong Wei's third win in the All England was strongly cheered by the Malaysian fans who were there. The match was also carried live on satelite television.

Meanwhile, the All-England men's doubles title went to the Indonesian pair of Mohammad Ahsan-Hendra Setiawan who beat Hiroyuki Endo-Kenichi Hayakawa fromJapan 21-19 and 21-19.

The women's singles title went to Wang Shixian from China who beat her compatriot Li Xuerui in straight sets 21-19 and 21-18.

China also dominated the women's doubles through Wang Xiaoli-Yu Yang who beat Ma Jin-Tang Yuanting, also from China, 21-17, 18-21 and 23-21 in one hour and 21 minutes.
