The reason for not allowing three Malaysians to enter Singapore to the watch the AFF Suzuki Cup match between Malaysia and Myanmar on Nov 23, remains a mystery.

Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the Singapore government has yet to give a clear reason for their action to bar the three Malaysians from entering the country.

According to Khairy, Singapore has said it was their prerogative to decide who can or cannot enter the country.

"We will work with the Malaysian police to find out if the three individuals who were barred from entering Singapore had any criminal records for being denied entry into the country," he told reporters after witnessing the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara (IKBN) and Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas), here Monday.

Khairy was asked why the Singapore authorities denied three Malaysians entry to watch the 2014 AFF Suzuki Cup match between Malaysia and Myanmar at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore.

The Sports Minister had subsequently written a letter to the Singapore authorities, to find out the reason for denying the three individuals entry to watch the match.

Meanwhile, the MoU was a part of IKBN's transformation programme to ensure the 'marketability' of students at IKBN when they complete their studies and start looking for a job.

The IKBN has also signed similar MoU with corporate organisations like Samsung, Tan Chong Motor Holdings Berhad and Tune Hotels.
